NAPLAN Online 2019 at Denistone East Public School

In 2019, Denistone East Public School will be participating in NAPLAN Online.

The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an Australia-wide standardised test that students from Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 sit each year.

Before the end of Term 1, students in Years 3 and 5 will sit a practice test in preparation for the assessment period in Weeks 3 and 4 of Term 2 (May 13 - May 24).

See the below dates for more information.

Week 10, Term 1 (April 1 - April 5)

Practice Test Week

Students from Years 3 and 5 will sit a 45 minute practice test. This is designed to familiarise students with the testing format and assessment conditions.

Week 3, Term 2 (May 13 - May 17)

NAPLAN Assessment Week 1 of 2

Students from Years 3 and 5 will sit their NAPLAN assessments using the online format, except for students in Year 3, who will sit their writing test offline in the traditional pencil and paper format.

While the Australian Curriculum and Assessment Reporting Authority (ACARA) do allow for up to two weeks for schools to complete the tests, it remains up to individual schools to establish an assessment timetable.

What does my child need to bring to the assessments?

Students will need a set of headphones. If they do not already have them, Denistone East Public School encourages students to borrow from a friend from another grade. Laptops, pencils and working out paper are supplied by the school. Students are not required to bring in any device from home.

What happens if my child is away on the testing days?

While Denistone East strongly encourages students to attend school on the testing days listed above, if an absence is unavoidable due to illness, make up sessions will be held throughout the rest of the assessment period.

Will my child be given extra time for bathroom breaks?

No. While students are permitted to use the bathrooms during the tests, in accordance with the ACARA assessment policy, no extra time will be given.

What happens if something goes wrong with the device my child is using?

Our trained assessment administrators will quickly act to rectify any technical issues. If a students experiences any inconvenience from technical issues, extra time will be given by the test administrator to make up what time was lost.
